The secure ATG Clearinghouse will access driving data from participating PeopleNet fleet customers to assist insurance carriers with underwriting and claims
November 18, 2015 – Seattle, WA and Minneapolis, MN – ATG Risk Solutions, creators of the FAIR Score® safe driving index and the first telematics data clearinghouse to enable usage-based insurance (UBI) programs for auto insurance carriers, announced today a data sharing agreement with PeopleNet, a Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) company and leading provider of fleet mobility technology. Under the terms of the agreement, the ATG Clearinghouse will make PeopleNet telematics data available, with the permission of the fleet customer, to commercial auto insurers for risk management, underwriting and loss prevention.
The ATG Clearinghouse allows vehicle insurers to access and verify vehicle information and driving analytics to enhance their underwriting and ratings processes. With the world’s largest telematics vehicle database, the permissions-based ATG Clearinghouse serves as a secure and trusted repository of detailed data on how, where and when vehicles are being driven. By participating in the Clearinghouse, telematics service provider fleet management companies (TSPs) such as PeopleNet are able to monetize the data they collect on behalf of fleet customers and those customers, in turn, can access potential insurance savings and benefits.
“PeopleNet is clearly a leader and innovator in fleet mobility and technology. We are extremely pleased that they have joined the ATG Clearinghouse as one of our premier-level telematics data partners,” said ATG Risk Solutions Founder and President Chris Carver. “PeopleNet’s early participation in the Clearinghouse underscores its commitment to providing its more than 2,000 fleet customers with a best-in-class service and a solid, ongoing return on their investment in telematics.”
ATG gathers, stores, normalizes and standardizes vehicle and driving data from TSPs and other data sources. Furthermore, ATG facilitates the private and secure transaction and transmission of this data between TSPs and insurers, following the consent of the policyholder/fleet owner. In so doing, ATG serves as a single, standardized data source that integrates seamlessly with the insurance carriers’ underwriting process.
“Through the Clearinghouse, ATG is enabling broader adoption of a usage-based insurance approach for commercial auto insurers of all sizes, which will ultimately benefit of fleets of all sizes,” said Rick Ochsendorf, PeopleNet Executive Vice President. “The Clearinghouse is the critical exchange point for privacy-protected data and analytics that will inform a variety of risk management and loss reduction services. Using data to generate a safety score gives fleet owners a ‘health check’ on safe driving and further extends the utility of their telematics solution. We are excited to play a role in it.”
